If I were to be abel merryweather, i would be extremely disappointed with my children. I would be devastated to see how they have grown up to be, to see that love doesn't matter to them and it is only the greed to aquire my belongings that brought them together would break my heart. I would too do what abel merryweather did in the story, would leave them and go somewhere i would be valued.
