When calcium carbide is added into water, acetylene gas is formed.

Products formed are Ethyne (acetylene) and calcium hydroxide.

\sf{CaC_2 + H_2O \rightarrow C_2H_2 + Ca(OH)_2}

sipukumar5252: no, acetlyene gas is formed
22072003: I also write this one.
