Explanation:

The charger is not charging the phone when the battery is fully charged. Instead what it’s doing is powering the phone. The battery is effectively out of the circuit apart from the charge being monitored.

So no, you can leave the phone connected to the charger as long as you like, and quite the opposite of doing any damage it’s prolonging the life of the battery by not using it to run the phone.

Answer:

According to Battery University, leaving your phone plugged in when it's fully charged, like you might overnight, is bad for the battery in the long run. Once your smartphone has reached 100 percent charge, it gets 'trickle charges' to keep it at 100 percent while plugged in.

"Overcharging” is the term that gets thrown around a lot with this one. The concept is that if you leave your phone on the charger for a while after it hits 100 percent, it will keep pumping in the current and that will reduce the capacity of the battery or even cause it to catch fire.
