Recessive traits can be carried in a person's genes without appearing in that person. For example, a dark-haired person may have one gene for dark hair, which is a dominant trait, and one gene for light hair, which is recessive.

HEYLO!

  1. Traits are a pair of alleles
  2. Alleles means that which represent the character of any organism like color, height etc.
  3. So, we know each trait has two alleles out of which one is dominant and other one is recessive.
  4. And again, these alleles are of two types, heterozygous alleles ( Tt) and homozygous alleles ( tt)
  5. By the word itself you can understand, dominant allele dominates the recessive allele and ultimately the character of it is represented by the organism
  6. Recessive trait is the allele contributed by parents.it will not appear in the case of heterozygous alleles where there is a dominant allele (tT) whereas if there are both recessive (tt)alleles in the trait then it will appear in the organism.
  7. Let us consider an example., we have tall height as dominant one and short height as recessive.so, as tall is dominant and short is recessive the organism shows the tall height.
