Solution

x-1 – 1 is divided by (x – 1)

= x-1 – 1 × 1/(x-1)

= 1/x – 1 × 1/(x-1)

= (1 – x/x) × 1/(x-1)

= - (1 – x)/x × 1/(x-1)

= – 1/x [cancel x – 1 from the numerator and denominator].

Answer - (E)
