If x = -1/2 is a solution ,

Substitute x = -1/2 in given equation

3(-1/2)² + 2k(-1/2) - 33 = 0

=> 3/4 -k - 33 = 0

=> -k = 33 - 3/4

=> - k = ( 132 - 3 )/4

=> - k = 129/4

multiply both sides of the equation

with ( -1 ) , we get

k = - 129/4
