(X+1/X)^2 = 2^2

or, (x^2 + 1/x^2) +2* x*1/x = 4

or, x^2+ 1/x^2 +2=4

or, x^2 + 1/x^2 = 4-2

or, x^2 + 1x^2 = 2

[ Hint: (a+b)^2 = a^2+b^2 + 2ab

          (a^2+b^2) = (a+b)^2-2ab ]
