Answer:

If x-2 is a factor then x-2=0

X=2

Putting the value of x in the equation P(x)=x3-4x2-kx-8

P(2)=(2)3-4(2)2-k(2)-8

P(2)=8-16-2k-8

We know that 2 is a factor therefore the whole equation will be equal to zero on putting the value of x as 2

P(2)=8-16-2k-8=0

=-16-2k=0

-2k=16

k=16/-2

k=-8
