x =  \sqrt{3}  +  \sqrt{2}  \\  \frac{1}{x}  =  \frac{1}{ \sqrt{3} +  \sqrt{2}  }  \\  =  \frac{ \sqrt{3} -  \sqrt{2}  }{( \sqrt{3}  +  \sqrt{2})( \sqrt{3}   -  \sqrt{2} )}  \\  =  \frac{ \sqrt{3} -  \sqrt{2}  }{3 - 2}  \\  =  \sqrt{3}  +  \sqrt{2}

x +  \frac{1}{x}  =  \sqrt{3}  -\sqrt{2}  +  \sqrt{3}  -  \sqrt{2}  \\  = 2 \sqrt{3}
