If x=(7+root5)/2 then find the value of x^2+1/x^2·

x = ( 7 + √5)/2

then,

1/x = 2/(7 +√5)

=2( 7 -√5)/44

=(7 -√5)/22

x ^2 + 1/x ^2 =?

x^2 + 1/x^2 =(x + 1/x )^2 -2(x)(1/x)

=( x + 1/x)^2 -2

={ (7+√5)/2+(7-√5)/22}^2 -2

={ (77 +11√5 +7 -√5)/22}^2 -2

={ 84 + 10√5}^2/484 -2

={(84 + 10√5)^2 -968} /484
