x+y=180. (linear pair) ....1
x-2y=23. ....2

subtracting equation 1 and 2
3y=157
y=157/3
x=180-y=180-157/3=127.67 degree answer

if x and y are linear pair, then,

▪X + y = 180°_______1

also,

▪X - 2y = 23°_______2

subtract 2 from 1

X + y = 180
X - 2y = 23
-__+__-_____
3y = 157
y = 157/3

▪y = 52.3

□so from 1

X + y = 180

X = 180 - 52.3

▪X = 127.7
