x is the midpoint of AC,so AX=1/2 AB,
y is the midpoint of BC,so CY=1/2 BC.
AX = CY .......given
1/2 AB =1/2 BC .....(SINCE AX=1/2AB,CY=1/2BC)
therefore,
AB=BC ....(multiplying by 2 on both side)
