I would go there and tell him the importance of water.As,today one-one drop of water is important due to the shortage of water and tell him to never waste the water again in future and also he could tell the importance of water to the others,who don't know the importance of water and wasting the water always.The following steps could be use to save the water:-
1.)Don't leave the tap open.
2.)We should take short showers.
3.)Check the lekages from pipes and faucets.
4.)Wash full loads of clothes.
5.)We should not water on cool,rainy and windy day.
