If a blood cell is placed in a salt solution then the cell will shrink due to the osmotic pressure. As, the solution is hypertonic so the cell will loose water and will shrink.

The blood cell will shrink when we place a blood cell in a beaker filled with a concentrated salt solution

Explanation:

Osmosis is defined as the process in which molecules of a solvent tend to move through a semipermeable membrane from a region of low concentration solution to a region of more concentrated solution.

Thus, we can say that when a blood cell is placed in a beaker filled with a concentrated salt solution, the solution will be called as hypertonic solution as the concentration of solution will be more as compared to concentration of blood cell and thus the solvent will move from blood cell to the concentrated salt solution and hence will shrink.
