Mrs Pumphrey was a rich woman who doted on her dog Tricki. She pampered him silly and overfeeds him. He gets no exercise, is overfed and overweight. Mrs Pumphrey is representative of women who, for lack of anything better to do, end up doing more harm than good by being over-indulgent... Mrs. Pumphrey was a rich lady who had a small pet dog named Tricki. She was foolishly indulgent and would pamper the dog by giving him chocolates, cakes, juice, eggs and wine. She was ignorant and did not know that the dog needed exercise also. So when he fell sick she was very anxious and thought that something very serious had happened to him. She was silly but tender hearted. She cried bitterly when Tricki was taken to the hospital. She was a simple person and it was easy to please her. She was happy when her pet became alright. She was grateful to Dr. Harriot for making Tricki healthy. She went to the extent of calling it a 'Triumph of Surgery'. So we can say that Mrs. Pumphrey was a rich, foolishly indulgent, ignorant, anxious, silly, tender hearted, simple, easy to please, and a grateful person.

Due to my ignorance and excessive possessiveness, my little Tricki had to suffer. You had previously forewarned me as well, but I did not heed your advice. You made the proper choice by keeping the details from me. Even so, I would describe it as a successful natural surgery.

• The dog looked like a swollen sausage with legs on each end, which surprised the neighbourhood vet who saw it.
• She was then told to stop feeding him by Him.
• The dog, however, cannot be rejected by Mrs. Pumphrey.
• Soon after, Tricky fell ill, prompting the call for an ambulance.
• The narrator, Mr. Herriot, is aware that Mrs. Pumphrey will never leave Tricki alone, yet he nevertheless manages to bring the dog to his hospital for treatment.
• He brought the dog and made sure that he had a bed in the surgery room.
• The dog didn't move around much or eat much for two days. On the third day, he began to play with the bigger dogs when he went outside.
• He even licked the bowls of other dogs in order to eat the leftover food. His condition started to improve right away. He also started battling other dogs for food.
• As soon as Mrs. Pumphrey heard that Tricki would need food for energy after his recovery, she started sending eggs to the hospital.
• However, Mr. Herriot and his friends started eating the eggs for breakfast every morning.
• In addition, Mrs. Pumphrey began giving Trick wine in bottles to help with his blood. But Mr. Herriot once more consumed those.
• They started drinking brandy when she started delivering it in bottles, too. After a few days, the doctor chose wisely to contact Mrs. Pumphrey, who was understandably worried, to make arrangements for Tricki's return to her house.
• When Tricki finally caught sight of his lady, he jumped inside the car. Mrs. Pumphrey then said that she would never be able to adequately thank him for all of these wonders.
• She added that Tricki was now cured and had recovered from his surgery.
