This is written so that the driver in front of the vehicle could see the letters by the side view mirror and since mirrors show the images laterally inverted. Therefore, for the convenience of the driver ahead, it is written as 'ecnalubma'.

See, as we know the ambulance if running in emergency it requires no rush to reach the destination as fast as possible and if the traffic will see ambulance in mirror image into the their mirror they will strictly have to give a way to the ambulance and siren is also there if it is turned on, the traffic will hear the sound and give a way to the ambulance.If anyone is not giving a way to the ambulance he/she will be strictly punished as no one is allowed to play with the life of anyone else.

it is because reverse word appear right in the mirror of car and driver is able to see the word in right form.
