Concept

Fraction is a combination of two numbers in which one number is present above the division sign and one number is present below the division sign. The number above the division sign is known as numerator and the number below the division sign is known as denominator.

Given

In a basket of fruits 1/3 are apples ,1/4 are mangoes and 1/5 are bananas the remaining are oranges and there are total 240 fruits in the basket.

To find

The part of oranges and number of each fruit in the basket.

Explanation

We know that the sum of fractions of a quantity is equal to 1.

let the part of oranges be x.

1/3+1/4+1/5+x=1

Taking LCM.

(20+15+12+60x)=60

47+60x=60

60x=60-47

60x-13

x=13/60

Part of oranges is 13/60.

Apples are given 1/3 of all the fruits so the number of apples be 240*1/3=80 apples.

Mangoes are given 1/4 of all the fruits so the number of mangoes be 240*1/4=60 mangoes.

Bananas are given 1/5 of all the fruits so the number of bananas be 240*1/5=48 bananas.

Oranges are 13/60 of all the fruits so the number of oranges be 240*13/60=52 oranges.
