In a double slit experiment, sodium light of wavelength 589 nm produces fringes spaced
1.8 mm on a screen. If the source is replaced by another one of wavelength 436 nm the
fringe spacing is:
1) 1.33 mm 2) 2.3 mm
3) 0.33 mm
4) 2 mm

Answer:

1)1.33mm

Explanation:

Beta =lamda D/d

Where lambda is wavelength

Beta is fringe spacing

Beta / lambda = constant

1.8/589=beta/436

Beta = 1.8*436/589= 1.33mm
