Hi friend!

Here is your Answer
**************************************************††***
Let the number of total vote be x
first candidate got vote = 57%
second candidate gote vote = 43%

now
4200 votes which is defeated by first candidate to second one

then

57x/100 - 43x/100 = 4200
=>
(57x-43x)/100 = 4200
=>
14x = 4200×100
=>
x = [4200×100] /14
=>
X = 30,000

So the total number of votes is 30,000

Hello Dear.

Here is the answer---

Let the total number of votes be x.

Votes of the First Candidates = 57% of x
= 57x/100

Votes of the second Candidates = 43% of x.
= 43x/100

As per as the Question,
 Votes of the First Candidates - votes of the Second Candidates = 4200
⇒ 57x/100 - 43x/100 = 4200
⇒ 57x - 43x = 4200 × 100
⇒ 14x = 420000
⇒ x = 30000

∴ Total number of votes is 30,000.

Hope it helps.
