Given:

Food samples for 300 boys or 480 girls

Number of boys who tasted = 45

Number of girls who tasted= 216

To find:

The number of boys able to taste the remaining samples

Solution:

As given, 300 boys= 480 girls

So, 1 boy= 480/300 girls

Or, 1 girl= 300/480 boys----- on simplification we get 1 girl = 5/8 boys

Number of people who already tasted= 45 boys and 216 girls

Now, converting the number of girls with respect to boys:

1 girl= 5/8 boys

So, 216 girls=( 5/8)*216 = 135 boys

So, total number of boys who tasted= 135+45= 180

The total number of boys who can taste= 300

Number of boys who already tasted=  180

So, number of boys who can taste further= 300-180 = 120

The remaining samples will be enough for 120 boys.
