Let the number of cows be x and number of hens be y.

Then, total number of legs = 4x + 2y
Total number of heads = x + y

Given, 4x + 2y = 2×(x + y) + 14
4x - 2x = 14
Number of cows, x = 7

Question :-

In a group of cows and hens the no of legs are 14 more than twice the no of heads the no of cows is..!

Answer :-

→ Number of cows = 7

To Find :-

→ Number of cows .

Explanation :-

Let the number of cows is "a" and number of hens is "b",

We know that a cow has 4 legs and a hen has 2 legs ,

hence ,

total legs = 4a + 2b ,

according to the question,

number of legs are 14 more then twice of number of heads ,

→ 4a + 2b = 2( a + b) + 14

→ 4a + 2b - 2a - 2b = 14

→ 2a = 14

→ a = 7 ,

because

number of heads of 7 cows = 14

hence, number of cows is 7 .
