Question :-

  • In a regression analysis, the coefficient of determination value is 0.804. What is the value for variance inflation factor ?

Formula used :-

  • Variance Inflation Factor = 1/ {1 - (Ri)²} where Ri² = coefficient of determination .

Solution :-

we have given that, coefficient of determination value is 0.804.

So,

Ri² = 0.804

Putting value in above told formula , we get :-

→ VIF = 1 / { 1 - (Ri)²}

→ VIF = 1 / (1 - 0.804)

→ VIF = 1 / (0.196)

→ VIF = 5.102 (Ans.)

Hence, value for Variance Inflation Factor is 5.102 .

Extra :-

  • Tolerance is the reciprocal of Variance Inflation Factor . ( VIF = 1/Tolerance ) .

Step-by-step explanation:

Ri²=.804²

so...vif=1/(1-.804²)

1/.196

=5.102
