ANSWER = 435

total \: no \: of \: students \:  \:  \:  \:  =  \frac{8x}{8}

number \: of \: boys \: \:  \:  \:  \:   =  \frac{5x}{8}

no \: of \: girls \:  \:  \:  =  \frac{8x}{8}  -  \frac{5x}{8}

 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  \frac{3x}{8}

 \frac{3x}{8}  = 261

3x = 261 \times 8

x =  \frac{261 \times 8}{3}

x = 696

x =  \frac{8x}{8}

total \: number \: of \: students \:  = 696

no. \: of \: boys \:  = 696 - 261

 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  = 435
