When you roll two standard six sided dice there are 6 outcomes for each die so there are a total of 36 outcomes, because each die is independent of the other. There are 5 dice rolls that have a total sum of 8. ... So the probability of getting a sum of 8 is 5/36 or approximately 13.89%.
