QUESTION :

in ∆abc ab=7cm bc=24cm ca=25 cm determine whether it is a right triangle

GIVEN :

  • AB = 7 cm
  • BC = 24 cm
  • CA = 25 cm

TO DETERMINE :

If the triangle is right angled triangle or not

LET'S START :

Let's try if the triangle satisfies Pythagoras Theorem or not

RHS =

 =  {25}^{2}  = 625

LHS =

 =  {7}^{2}  +  {24}^{2}   = 49 + 576

 = 625

LHS = RHS

Thus the sides of the triangle satisfies Pythagoras Theorem. Hence the triangle is Right Angled Triangle.

________________

PYTHAGORAS THEOREM :

According to the Pythagoras Theorem in a right angled triangle (only and only) the square of the largest side( called the Hypotenuse) , is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides ( called base and perpendicular) .

  • In a triangle ABC if AC is the longest side and Angle B = 90 ° then According to Pythagoras Theorem

\boxed{AC² = AB² + BC²}
