In adjoining figure , AB and CD are two vertical poles of heights 19m and 11m respectively . If the shortest between the Thier tops is 17m, find how far apart they are ?

we will do this by Pythagoras theorem
hipotenuse = 17m
perpendicular= 8m
b^= √h^-p^
b^= √17^ - 8^
b^= √289-64
b^= √225
b=15m
