We have been given that

x = 5

So,
4x - 3
=4(5) - 3      (Substituting x with 5)
=20 - 3
=17

X=5
we must put 5 in the place of X
so, 4X-3(4X means multiplication) will be 4x5-3
4x5-3 = 20-3=17
