The second candidate gets only votes
X+X+312=32x
312=30x
X=312/30
X=1.4
13x=13*1.4=18 votes

Hi ,

Let A and B are two contestants ,

ratio of votes secured = 13 : 19

A votes = 13x

B votes = 19x

according to the problem given ,

19x - 13x = 312

6x= 312

x = 312/6

x = 52

Therefore ,

A votes = 13x = 13 × 52 = 676

B votes = 19 × 52 = 988

I hope this helps you.
