In an election two candidates contested and the winner secured 85% of the votes.l,the difference between their votes was 8400.Find the vote securef by each?

Let total votes be x, and Candidates be A and B repecitvely

We are given, Vote secured A = 85 %
                       Vote secured B = 15%

We are given, x*85/100 - x*15/100 = 8400
                      x*17/20 - x*3/20 = 8400
               So, 14x = 8400*20
                    so, x = 600*20 = 12000
                 

So, Total No. of Votes, x = 12000

So, Votes Secured By Each are 12000*85/100 = 10200
      and, 12000*15/100 = 120*15 =  1800

10%=1200
