in an examination 35% candidates failed in a subject and 42% candidates failed in another subject and 15% failed in both the subjects. If 2500 candidates appeared in the examination, how many passed in either subject but not in both?

this should solve as per sets. if he failed either one subject, then automatically he will pass either subject.so,42%+35%-2*15%=47%then, 47% failed either subject automatically they passed either subject. means the candidates have passed either subject not both subject is 47% of 2500 = 1175
