% students passed in history = 65%
So, % students failed in history might be: 100-65 = 35%
% students passed in Hindi = 55%
So,% students failed in Hindi = 100-55 = 45%
% students failed in both = 5%
% students failed only in history = 35-5 = 30%
% students failed only in Hindi = 45-5 = 40%
So, % students passed in both = 100 - (30+40+5)= 100 - 75 = 25%
Hope it helps.
[you can either use a Venn-diagram concept or set theory..I've followed the Venn diagram concept]
