The trees are the primary producers which are decomposed by microorganisms. So the pyramid of number gets an inverted shape.
Explanation:
- The trees are the primary producers of the ecosystem. There are no trees that eat other trees.
- So trees are not the consumers. The trees that are the producers live for their whole lives and then die.
- Then they are decomposed by the decomposers of the environment.
- The decomposers of the environment are the microorganisms like bacteria, yeast, Fungi and a lot more.
- The number of the microorganisms are far more than the number of trees in the ecosystem.
- Thus in a ecosystem of the plants only, the pyramid of number is an inverted pyramid.
