Let us assume the total strength = 100, then

Number of females = 30% = 30

Number of males = 70% = 70

Females who earn more than 8000 pm are:

30% of the number of females  

= 30% of 30

= 9 females

It is given that 80% of male employees earn less than 8000 per month. Hence, this means that 20% of male employees earn more than 8000 per month.  

Males who earn more than 8000 pm are:

20% of number of males

= 20% of 70

= 14 males

Hence, total number of employees who earn more than 8000 pm  

= 9 females + 14 males  

= 23 employees i.e. 23%
