Agrobacterium is a genus of gram-negative bacteria that causes tumours or crown gall diseases in plants. Agrobacterium tumefaciens or rhizogenes is the tumour inducing plant pathogen. Because of its ability to transfer DNA (Ti plasmid) into the plants, it is an important tool for genetic engineering.
