As you go about your day, you may notice the various types of roofs on houses and buildings. You may wonder why are the houses’ roofs usually sloped? Well, the simple reason is because of the water. Most areas get some precipitation, whether it be rain, snow, or even ice. When this water lands on the roof, it can pool, freeze, and cause serious damage to the materials of the roof. This can allow water to leak into the home and create even more damage. The slope helps to let the water slide off the roof and prevent pooling from occurring.
