In the absence of a refrigerator, butter is kept wrapped in a wet clothduring summer .why?

It is so because the wet cloth doesn't allows the heat to come inside!

in the absence of a refrigerator but it is kept up in a wet cloth because the wet cloth helps the better to maintain coolness and it does not allow the heat to pass through them to the butter..
