Compare ΔABC and ΔADE:
AB = AD, AC = AE
and ∠BAC = ∠BAD + ∠DAC
. = ∠EAC + ∠CAD = ∠EAD
So by SAS criterion, the two triangles are congruent.
So BC = DE.
