in the adjacent figure AC =ae ,ab= ad and angle BAD = angle BAC show that BC= DE

Ankit1408: lol these cannot be equal..
racha11: the same problem
Ankit1408: there is mistake in this question
racha11: maybe
racha11: if so i will find answer i will send you
Ankit1408: Okay. But it cannot be possible. Angle BAD canbe equal to angle BAC only in the case when BD=DC
Ankit1408: BD=BC *
kvnmurty: angle BAD = angle EAC... it is shown in figure... its a typing mistake.
kvnmurty: which class is it ? do you know trigonometry ? or is it just pure geometry qn ?

It is simple.  When we find some sides and angles are equal, then think of similar and congruent triangles....

Compare ΔABC and ΔADE:
   AB = AD, AC = AE
and  ∠BAC = ∠BAD + ∠DAC
.                  = ∠EAC + ∠CAD = ∠EAD

So by  SAS criterion, the two triangles are congruent.
So BC = DE.

kvnmurty: hope it's easy to follow.
