In the figure AC=XD C is mid point of AB and D is mid point of XY .Using Euclid s axiom show that AB=XY

Hey friend!!

AC =XD (given)

Multipying both the sides by 2...we get...

2×AC = 2× XD

AC + AC = XD+ XD

AC + BC = XD + DY.....( since C and D are midpoints)

AB = XY...( if equals are added to equals the whole are equal)

Hence proved!!

1.doubles of the same thing are equal to one another
2.halves of the same thing are equal to one another..
