The wrong term in the series is 42.

Given,

A series 3, 10, 19, 30, 42, 58, 75.

To Find,

The wrong term in the given series.

Solution,

The method of finding the wrong term in the given series is as follows -

We can observe that the difference of consecutive terms of the series is (10-3) = 7, (19-10) = 9, (30-19) = 11, (42-30) = 12, (58-42) = 16, (75-18) = 17 i.e. 7, 9, 11, 12, 16, 17.

The above series starts with the term 7 and increases by 2 with each term. But, to maintain the pattern the fourth term has to be 13 and the fifth term has to be 15.

So, if we change the fifth term of the original series 42 with the term 43, the fourth and fifth terms of the above series will be 13 and 15.

Hence, the fifth term 42 is the wrong term in the series.
