(i)BD=8cm

(ii) AC=25cm

In triangle ABC

Angle B=90 degrees

AB=15cm ,AD=17cm and CD=12cm

In triangle ABD

AD^2=AB^2+BD^2

Using Pythagoras theorem

(Hypotenuse)^2=(base)^2+(Perpendicular\;side)^2

Substitute the values then we get

(17)^2=(15)^2+BD^2

289=225+BD^2

BD^2=289-225=64cm^2

BD=\sqrt{64}=8cm

(i)BD=8 cm

(ii) In triangle ABC

BC=BD+CD=8+12=20cm

AC^2=AB^2+CB^2

AC^2=(15)^2+(20)^2

AC^2=225+400=625

AC=\sqrt{625}=25cm
