IN the given figure ,AD DIVIDES ANGLE BAC in the ratio 1:3 AND AD=DB. DETERMINE the value of X.

Solution: Let the ratio multiple be 3y and y.

As per the figure, 108+3y+y=180 (sum of angles of straight line).


This implies, 4y=180-108=72, => y=72/4 = 18.


Therefore, angle CAD = 3*18 =54 and total angle BAC = 54+18=72.


Now, in triangle BAC, 72 + 18 + x =180, => x =180-90 = 90.
