This question is simple.
Given- In triangle ADC
AD= 9cm, CD= 12cm and AC=??
By pythagoras theorm
( Hyp)^2 = (b)^2 + (alt)^2
(Hyp)^2 = (12)^2 + (9)^2
(Hyp)^2 = 144 + 81
(Hyp)^2 =225
(Hyp) = 15cm
Now, let's take triangle ABC
Again by pythagoras theorm -
(17)^2 = (15)^2 + (B)^2
289 = 225 + B^2
289- 225 = B^2
64 = B^2
B = 8cm
Now, area of quadrilateral ABCD =area of triangle ACD+ABC
= 1/2 * B*H + 1/2 * B*H
=1/2* 8* 15 + 1/2 *9*12
After solving it-
= 60+54
=114cm^2 is the area of quadrilateral ABCD
HOPE this answer will help and satisfy you!!!!
