According to the bond signed if Antonio fails to pay the three thousand ducats on time he shall get an exact pound of flesh from any part of his body without spilling a drop of blood. This way Shylock would get the chance to get his revenge against Antonio for all the things he had done to him ( i.e he spat on his beard, kicked him and called him a cut throat dog).
