Assimilation occurs when inidviduals or different ethnic groups are absorbed into the dominant culture of the society. The people who get absorbed into this culture take on the beliefs and beliefs of the dominant culture. They interiorize  the ways of life  of the dominant culture, be it in language, rituals, religion, education systems. However this is not a biological fusion and the minority group still retains some of its ways of life.
