orders ,warrants ,directions etc . issued under authority are examples of writs . there are five major types of writs viz. habeas corpus, mandamus, prohition, quo warranto and cetiorari.

The Writ of which means "what is your authority "is Quo-Warranto. The word Quo-Warranto literally means "by what warrants?" or "what is your authority"? It is a writ issued with a view to restraining a person from holding a public office to which he is not entitled.
