In the school lab Mivaan and Aarav are measuring diameter of a

spherical ball using vernier caliper. Mivaan claimed diameter is 2.54

cm but Aarav denied him and he says diameter is 2.56 cm. They

realise something is wrong and they go and meet with their Physics

Teacher he told them their may an error you must check for that.

After checking for error Aarav realise his instrument has some error.

Find the type of error and coinciding vernier scale division for the

same.

Answer:

please follow me

Explanation:

The least count of given vernier scale is:

L.C=

10

1−9

=0.1 mm=0.01 cm

If third division of vernier scale coincides with main scale division then the zero error is:

vernier division ahead of zero of main scale × least count

=3×0.01 cm

=0.03 cm

And it is ahead of main scale then error is positive

=+3×0.01 cm

=+0.03 cm
