If you see as s PQ=QR

triangle PQR is isosceles triangle

and base angles of isosceles triangle should be equal

angle P = angle R because angles opposite to equal sides are also equal

angle P = angle R = 40°

Since sum of all angles of a triangle is equal to 180°

angle P+ angle R+angle Q = 180°

40°+40°+angle Q = 180°

80°+angle Q = 180°

angle Q = 180°-80°

angle Q = 100°
