The buoyant force on an object immersed in a liquid acts in the vertically upward direction. Buoyant force acts in the direction opposite to the direction in which weight of the object acts.

The buoyant force is caused by the pressure difference between the top and the bottom of the object submerged in a liquid.

At depth the pressure is very large and it pushes upwards on the object.
