For best swimmers or the swimmers who can swim well, or like to take challenge in swimming swims in high tide, as they are practice of swimming. And the level of water during the high tide rises thus, it became easier for them to swim. Surfers surf in the ocean in high tide due to the same reason.

Fishers prefer fishing while high tide, when the tide water strikes the coast, they bring fishes with them, so they sail through the middle of the river and catch the fishes.

Steering a ship while high tide is easier, than sailing the tide while low tide, because– the water during the high tide is too much, and a ship needs much water to sail through. Thus ships enters a coast while high tide only, as the water is enough to sail in.

Swimming in the water is directly related with the tides because if we swim against the direction of tide then the water resistance will increase and more efforts will be necessary for an efficient swimming pace.

Fishing - They know to fish in general head shallower and feed on a rising tide, and pull back out to deeper water as it falls. ... The Farlex dictionary calls tides, “The periodic variation in the surface level of the oceans and of bays, gulfs, inlets, and estuaries, caused by gravitational attraction of the moon and sun.”

Steering - When a person thinks of the Tide, they generally think of the periodic rising or the falling of a body of water because of the influence of the Moon's gravity. This in of itself does not effect the steering of a ship except perhaps to avoid shallow water or dangerous obstructions revealed by a low tide
