answer : option (b) BF₃

This is based on concept of Valence shell electron pair repulsion theory (VSEPR theory)

let's find hybridisation of each compound.

(a) BeF₂

number of bond pairs = 2

number of lone pairs = (2 + 2 × 7 - 8 × 2)/2 = 0

so, hybridisation = sp

(b) BF₃

number of bond pairs = 3

number of lone pair = (3 + 3 × 7 + 8 × 3)/2 = 0

so, hybridisation = sp²

(c) C₂H₂ ⇔ 2(CH)

straight line shape so, hybridisation of C₂H₂ is sp.

(d) NH₃

number of bond pairs = 3

number of lone pairs = (5 + 3 - 3 × 2)/2 = 1

so, hybridisation = sp³

here it is clear that, BF₃ has sp² hybridisation. hence option (b) is correct choice.
